Hey Falcon Fans!

We just finished our third week of classes and workouts meaning we’re already halfway through summer school! We’ve been working hard in the classroom, weight room, and on the court. The team has been busy studying with many of us having mid-terms coming up this week. Workouts continue to get harder each week as we keep getting adjusted, and as our strength coach Kelly comes up with crazy new exercises for us to do. We’re working hard on the court playing pickup and also trying to get extra shots in.

We’re becoming closer as a team as we get to know the freshman better and they get to know us. Chelsea, Tracy, and I held a team luau at our house last week. We all dressed up in bright colors and had a limbo competition. Kelly dominated all of us!! Each week a different class is in charge of coming up with a team activity for us to do away from basketball. It’s fun and a good way for us to bond!

Golds came up with the motto 110% for our team. It has really stuck with us and we’re striving to give 110% in everything we do including school, workouts, pickup, our jobs, and everything else we do. It helps us stay focused and motivates us to go all out all the time!

We’re halfway through the summer, but we still have 3 more great weeks ahead and we can’t wait! Everyday we’re working to get better, so we will be ready when the season comes!

Go Falcons!!

Update from Lindsey Goldsberry

Hi Falcon Fans!

The coaching staff made it back successfully from their first 10 days out on the road! We saw some great basketball, but are glad to be back on campus for a few days to see the team!

This week's post comes from Lindsey Goldsberry...our one and only senior. She has taken on the reigns of leadership and will share some of her thoughts on the summer! Enjoy!

Hello All!

I hope you all are enjoying the summer as much as us Falcons are! We are just finishing up our second week of workouts and classes. Our whole team is back in Bowling Green this summer session working hard in the weight room, on the track, and on the court. Some of us girls have summer jobs that we are working hard at too! Off the court and outside of the basketball we are having fun hanging out and having team gatherings together.

Our strength coach Kelly has us working hard in the weight room each morning preparing us physically and mentally for the upcoming season. Monday we ran our practice fitness test on the track known as “The Gauntlet.” I think the name says it all. We will continue to train throughout the summer to get into the best shape for the beginning of our season. It’s great to be back on the court with the team. We play pick up throughout the week and it’s going really well. I’m glad we can all be together to play and get better as a team!

Outside of our workouts and school we’re having fun hanging out together. Last week we celebrated Tracy’s birthday with cake and ice cream. I had the team over for dinner and everyone received their BKB totes. BKB is our sorority that we made up which stands for BasKetBall. I think you saw the picture from last week’s blog.

In order to work on our summer tan we head over to Kelly and Jen’s house to lay out next to our kiddy pool during the day. :) As the second week comes to an end it’s good to see our team come together on and off the court.

Summer in BG and First Time Blogging

Welcome to the new blog site of the BGSU Women's Basketball Team!! This is our attempt to let everyone know what is going on within the program and an inside look at the players and coaching staff!

Players Update: All 13 of our players are currently on campus and enrolled in summer school. They have started 7 am workouts everyday with Coach Kelly (our strength coach) and are already working hard to build the foundation for another great season! The freshmen are excited and come into the office everyday with huge smiles. They are quickly getting acclimated to the weight room and life on a college campus! Unfortunately, as coaches, we are not allowed to do any sort of work with the team in the summer. This is where our phenomenal strength staff (Kelly, Rick, Hillman...you are the best!) has a tremendous impact on setting the tone for the season! This is a great time of year for everyone to get stronger, get lots of shots in, and most importantly, bond as a team. Lindsey "Golds" Goldsberry hosted the first team dinner last night...from reports there was good food and good times to be had by all! We preach all the time about having a Championship Lockerroom and how that leads to championships on the court.

Coaching Staff Update: Well, it's July...and that means recruiting, recruiting, recruiting!! The entire staff leaves this weekend to hit the road in search of the next generation of Falcons! We will travel all across the country in our orange and brown...from Chicago to New Orleans, and Indianapolis to Washington, DC (try not to get lost this year Coach Miller!!) All I can say is thank goodness for the invention of the GPS!! It is truly a Godsend and everyone on staff has one in their car ready to go! Coach Kevin has affectionately named his Gigi and is his summertime companion. :)

The team and coaching staff enjoyed the month of June...spent lots of time with family and ran two high school team shootouts. Both team camps were a huge success...sold out both days and had many young recruits on campus. In two days, we brought more than 900 high school student-athletes to campus!

Before closing, I want to give a little Happy Birthday shout out to Sheri Quiroga, our administrative assistant who we couldn't live without, and Monique "Mo" Rosati, our new Director of Operations who is the best thing to happen to our staff...both celebrated birthdays this week...and I think both turned 29... :)

Team Birthdays: Tracy "Skeet" Pontius also celebrated her birthday this past week! Coach Roos will celebrate her birthday on July 17 and Jen Uhl will have a birthday on July 27!

Pictures and more updates from the road will be coming soon! Thanks for visiting our new blog site and we hope you enjoy it! You will be hearing from multiple people throughout the year...coaches and players...to keep everyone updated on our program!

Important Upcoming dates: WBB Golf Outing will be held on Wednesday, September 10th...mark your calendars now! All proceeds from our golf outing will go towards our Summer 2009 Foreign Tour!! Details coming soon...

Countdown to Opening Tip of the 2008-09 Season: 141 days :)

Happy Fourth of July!!
